Obituary. Eldee Snyder, only son of Erastus Snyder was
born in Dekalb, St. Lawrence Co. N.Y., August 22nd, 1875, and was drowned in the
Oswegatchie river near Hailesboro June 17, 1895 while bathing with a number of his
companions. He was much beloved by his father and two sisters who deeply mourn his
loss. He was a young man possessing many sterling qualities, sober, industrious, and
was a great favorite among the young people of the place, who are deeply moved by
his sudden and sad death.
The funeral was held in the M.E. church, Hailesboro, on Wednesday, the 19th, at 2
o'clock, a short service having previously been held at the house. Kind and loving
hands had been busy in the church during the forenoon. The rostrum and the altar
were filled with plants and beautiful designs of flowers. These things and the fact that
the church was filled to overflowing told the deep esteem in which the deceased and
the grief stricken family are held in the community. The occasion was improved by a
sermon by the pastor from the 23rd Psalm, 4th verse, then we laid what was mortal
away in the Hailesboro cemetery. The family have the heartfelt sympathy of the whole
community in their deep affliction.

Married. Rebyor-Nichols. A very pretty event occurred at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Nichols last Wednesday evening Oct. 28th, when
their daughter Lenora was united in marriage to Mr. Guy A. Rebyor. The house was
brilliantly illuminated. About one hundred invited guests assembled to witness the
ceremony which united the destiny of these two young people. At 7:30 the wedding
march was played by a sister of the bride, the young couple marching to a beautiful
green arch which had been erected in one end of the parlor, where the knot was to be
tied, preceded by the groom's best man, Mr. John Marshall and the bridesmaid, Miss
M.B. Mills, the music ceasing as they arrived under the arch. The Rev. Wm. H.
Summers then stepped forward and pronounced them man and wife. The bride wore a
beautiful cream colored silk dress and the groom the conventional black suit usually
worn on such occasions. The bridesmaid was also dressed in a beautiful cream
colored dress and each carried a large bouquet of chrysanthemums. After the
ceremony was over the guests were invited to sit down to tables which fairly groaned
beneath the good things placed upon them and which would certainly satisfy the most
epicurean taste.
The bride was the recipient of a great number of useful and costly presents. At a
late hour the guests departed to their homes. The young couple will reside at the old
homestead of the young man which has already been vacated by the father and
mother. The best wishes of a multitude of friends will follow the young couple for a
happy and prosperous voyage through life. [10/28/1896]

She has passed away, but her sweet good will,
Like a fragrant odor lingers still;
The tender lesson that memory brings,
The mantle of patience o'er us flings;
We learn to follow the path she trod,
To be more like her who has gone to God.
Better to smile when such a life
Gives up the battle of earthly strife;
Better to know that her tasks are done,
Trials ended and glory won;
Tears are vain when a soul so bright
Wings its way to the gates of light.
